Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing the entire process of handling seized evidence, like drugs and valuable assets, from when it's first taken until it's disposed of, ensuring everything is tracked and secure in a federal law enforcement setting.

Key Requirements

Full Job Description

This position is located in the DEA, San Diego, California Field Division.

This position(s) primary purpose is to oversee and manage the life cycle of all seized evidence which includes non-drug, drug, bulk, and highvalue seized assets for the Field Division Office (FDO), District Offices (DO), Resident Offices (RO), Posts of Duty (POD), and non-diversion/diversion evidence.

Applicants applying for the GS-09 must meet one of the following requirements: A.

Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-07 grade level.

Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing all oversight, receipt, maintenance, safekeeping, and disposition of seized evidence from cradle to grave; 2) Assisting in coordinating with other evidence specialists, evidence custodians, and evidence alternates; 3) Assisting in self-inspections, and creating/reviewing evidence inventory reports on a quarterly, annual and/or ad hoc basis; 4) Organizing with vendors to schedule and coordinate the disposal or storage of evidence; and 5) Supporting maintenance of files and processing paperwork while assisting with monitoring all division evidence inventory levels and movement using manual or computer automated systems.

OR B. I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL. B or J.D., if related.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR C.I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least one year of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required two years.

I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12.

Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Applicants applying for the GS-11 must meet one of the following requirements: A.

OR B. I have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR C.

I have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have less than three years of graduate-level education as described in B.

I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

The total percentage must equal at least to 100 percent to qualify.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:

As a your typical work assignments may include: Coordinates with individuals who have evidence management responsibilities across Field Divisions.

Serves as a point of contact and provides guidance, processes, and procedures. Accepts, releases, and secures the return of evidence to/from the evidence vault(s) and/or warehouse.

Maintains files and processes paperwork while monitoring all division evidence inventory levels and movement using manual or computer automated systems.

Performs annual/semi-annual inspections and ad hoc reviews of evidence at Field District Office ("DO"), Resident Office ("RO"), and Post of Duty ("POD"), and off-site facilities
