This vacancy is for a GS-1670-12, Equipment Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S.
Coast Guard, SFLC LRE SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT SECTION 2 -SFLC-LRE-ENG-SES2 in BALTIMORE, Maryland.
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Resume must show at least 1 year experience at the GS-11 level serving as Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) and developing specialized technical information for propulsion machinery equipment and systems.
Resume must show at least 1 year experience at the GS-11 level providing plans/arrangements for procurement by developing and/or analyzing contract specifications, making final determinations regarding the acceptance/rejection of contractor proposals, and examining propulsion machinery equipment or service provided to determine if specifications and schedules are met.
Resume must show at least 1 year experience at the GS-11 level providing technical advice and assistance to groups in regards to significantly modifying total equipment systems, groups of commodity classes, or subsystems.

You will serve as an Equipment Specialist and be responsible for performing work involved in collecting, analyzing, interpreting and developing specialized information about propulsion machinery systems and other hull, mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and providing such information through advisory services to those who design, test, produce, procure, supply, operate, repair or dispose of equipment.

Typical work assignments include: Resolves difficult, recurring procurement problems Maintains extensive knowledge of primary manufacturers of assigned components and parts Identifies and evaluates potential vendors, and conducts site surveys for procurement source approval Developing commercial descriptions for highly complex, economically non-repairable or repairable equipment Performing market research to obtain information to prepare purchase requests to procure or repair commercial equipment/parts for casualty response and maintenance Developing and managing procurements as assigned.
Must be able to be certified as a DHS COR II.
Provides advisory services related to equipment design, production, operational and maintenance requirements with regard to new or significantly modified total equipment system, groups of commodity classes or subsystems.
Applies thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in design, procurement, maintenance, modification and repair of assigned classes of marine equipment.
