Seattle City Light's Fleets group is looking for an Equipment Servicer to join their team. Equipment Servicers, under close supervision, repair and service a variety of vehicles and equipment.

General guidelines exist in the form of standard operating procedures and technical manuals. Special assignments not covered by guidelines are discussed with Supervisors.

Personal contact is primarily with intra-departmental employees for the purpose of exchanging information.

This position will report to the Facility and Equipment Coordinator.

Requirements

Here is more about what you’ll be doing:

• Perform safety inspections, check fluid levels, tire pressures, interior/exterior cleanings, and fueling AMP-CAR shared motor pool vehicles
• Jump start Heavy Duty and Light Duty equipment
• Providing customer assistance for AMP-CAR reservations.
• Transporting equipment from the NSC to the FAS Haller Lake and Charles St repair facility for servicing and repairs
• Performing field service calls such as lockouts, running out of fuel, plus taking care of no starts and flat tires.
• Support the Incident Management Team (IMT) Logistics Ground Support Unit.
• Support 24/7 on call after hours phone line for equipment breakdown support to the field crews when the City of Seattle vehicle repair shops are closed
• Ability to accomplish work as part of a team in a diverse environment.
• Do daily yard walks and document any defective, unsafe or damaged equipment and report it to the repair shops and/or supervisor
• Maintain detailed records of repair, maintenance and shuttle activities including materials used and time spent
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has:

Requires a minimum of one year of experience in general automotive and truck maintenance (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Work is performed in an automotive shop, with exposure to noise, fumes and hazardous materials, such as asbestos from brake linings, motor oil, grease, and brake fluid.
• Required to work in all types of weather and road conditions.

License, Certification and Other Requirements

• Current State of Washington driver's license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class "B" CDL with tanker endorsement, TIA Tire Certification, Propane Dispensing Station Certification within 6 months of hire.

Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:

• Fleet preventative maintenance scheduling experience.

• Two years' experience driving Light Duty, Medium Duty, and Heavy-Duty equipment, both on road and off road. Examples; Electric vehicles, pickup trucks, large class 6, 7, & 8 dump trucks, aerial trucks, moving trucks with large enclosed bodies, tractors etc.
• Fleet Management Experience with AssetWorks, Fleet Anywhere (FA) - Fleet Management Information system (FMIS).
• MS Word, Excel, Access and internet experience.
• Experience working with automated motor pool systems.
• Class “A” CDL

Additional Information

The full salary range for this position is $34.61 to $37.36 per hour.
