Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to clean and maintain equipment on submarines and ships at a naval facility in Washington, including operating pumps, mixing chemicals, and adjusting cleaning tools to prevent spills and ensure safety.

Full Job Description

You will serve as an EQUIPMENT CLEANER LEADER in the GENERAL DECK SERVICES SHOP 72C, WATERFRONT SERVICES DIVISION, REPAIR DEPARTMENT of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

  • You will be reading and interpreting blueprints, Submarine Maintenance Standards, Naval Ships' Technical Manuals.
  • You will set up and maintain temporary vacuum systems, adjusting pumps to assure proper flow, and performs preventive maintenance of pumps to prevent any spills.
  • You will recommend chemical mixtures for sanitizing tanks, parts washers, and high-pressure steamers based on a general knowledge of their applications.
  • You will make adjustments to pressure levels of blasting, steam cleaning, and parts washing equipment. Recognize improper temperature settings for chemical leaning washers and make the required adjustments.
  • You will be operating various types of equipment to pump sanitary material, fuel, oil, and contents of tanks and bilges on various marine vessels.
