Requirements

In this position, you will be responsible for operating various construction and maintenance equipment for projects managed by the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation's Wilkes-Barre District Office. This includes the use of dozers, front-end loaders, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, compactors, tractor-trailer combinations, and dump trucks, among other vehicles and equipment essential for small-scale abandoned mine reclamation and related projects. You will also collaborate with other state agencies on construction and maintenance tasks.

Additionally, your duties will involve cleaning and maintaining department vehicles and equipment, fueling and greasing machines, performing general upkeep, and executing minor repairs. When not operating machinery, you will engage in manual labor using power and hand tools, acetylene cutting torches, and electric welding equipment, as well as assisting mechanics with equipment repairs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience or training.

Special Requirement:

• You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Condition of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) and any endorsements required to operate specific equipment, in order to meet operational needs.
