Requirements

As an Equipment Operator B, you will have a wide range of responsibilities, including technical construction work and skilled maintenance tasks. Your duties will involve constructing, modifying, or rebuilding roads, trails, and target range layouts. You may also be responsible for demolishing old or unsafe structures, as well as performing underground utility work, and hydro excavating for utility locating. In addition, you will be involved in maintenance and construction on the airfield, drainage improvements and installations, and bio solid spreading. Along with these duties, you will also be expected to perform various manual labor tasks and operate hand and power tools. It will also be necessary to maintain and operate specialized equipment, both military and civilian, for construction and maintenance purposes. This will include vehicles and equipment with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training.


Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.


Additional Requirements:
  • A conditional offer is contingent on passing a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) permit at the time of hire. (Once you are hired, the agency will send you to classes for a Class A CDL that you must obtain within 6 months after hire.)
  • You must obtain a Tanker Endorsement (N) within one year of employment.
  • You must obtain a Bio-Solid Application Certification within one year of employment.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Possession of a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions
  • Experience operating a refuse/recycling truck
  • Experience operating a wheeled/tract front-end loader
  • Experience operating heavy trucks/tractor trailers
  • Experience with snow removal
  • Experience cutting grass using a large tractor with a gang-mower attachment
