About the Position: This position is located in the Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington. Tacoma is a diverse city nestled between Seattle and the state capital of Olympia.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting impromptu spot checks to ensure proper procedures are being followed, recording findings into an automated system, and retrieving data from an automated system to compile reports for management level review.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

  • Responsible for performing QA surveillance reporting and developing monthly QA evaluation schedules for hospital and outlying clinics based on contract performance requirements for housekeeping, laundry, and regulated medical waste contracts.
  • Check and assess contractors’ performance in providing timely, quality, and cost-effective service.
  • Monitor contractors completed service using established surveillance plans and methods such as random sampling, 100% surveillance, and formal/informal customer complaints to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff.
  • Investigate and document valid customer complaints and other observations of poor performance or nonperformance of services.
  • Compile performance and deficiency data for each functional area sampled and documents findings and recommendations.
  • Prepare and submit required reports as the Quality Assurance Evaluator (QAE) to the Contract Officers Representative (COR).
  • Advise hospital management on matters pertaining to hospital linen, sanitation, and regulated medical waste.
  • Responsible for clear and concise coordination between contractors and Environmental Services Branch staff.
  • Read and interpret floor plans, charts, work schedules, technical orders and contract specifications in order to evaluate materials and methods used by the contractor and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Notify the contractor of deficiencies observed during surveillance and requests appropriate corrective action.
