In this position, you will proactively assist agencies and applicants with fulfilling their legal obligation to consider historic resources during the planning and execution of projects, section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the Pennsylvania History Code.

Requirements

As an Environmental Review, Streamlining Coordinator, your responsibilities will include assisting federal and state agencies in the identification of archaeological resources in advance of anticipated projects.

You will also manage digital archaeological collection data, craft policies and procedures to streamline curation processes and artifact disposition for state and federal projects, and collaborate with other Commonwealth agencies to assist in the creation of cultural resource management plans and programs that include archaeology collections from Commonwealth lands.

These duties involve managing projects effectively to meet mandated deadlines, researching inquiries, conducting site visits, and organizing and participating in meetings and training.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, with the exception of site visits/field work, leadership meetings and one day per month in the office in Harrisburg.

    Specific days will be determined according to bureau needs.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for History, Archeology, Architectural History, Architecture, or Historic Architecture.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have a minimum of two years of experience in digital records management and data management systems.
  • You must have a minimum of two years of experience in advising and assisting state and federal agencies, organizations, and/or individuals with the consideration of historic properties and archaeological sites in project planning.
  • You must have a minimum of two years of experience in interpreting and applying National Park Service guidance with regards to the evaluation of historic properties for eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
  • You must have a minimum of two years of experience in public speaking and educating the public about the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • You must have two or more years of experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to inform business decisions and streamlining processing in collaboration with program partners and leadership.
  • You must have two or more years of experience collaborating with cross functional teams.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience working on collaborative team projects and completing independent tasks to implement team goals
