Requirements

In this position, you will be part of the Waterways & Wetlands Program for the Southcentral Region, where your primary duty will be to coordinate enforcement actions to ensure adherence to various laws, rules, and regulations overseen by the Program.

This includes compliance with Chapter 102 on Erosion and Sediment Control, Chapter 105 regarding Water Obstruction and Encroachment, Chapter 91 for Water Quality Protection, Chapter 92a related to NPDES Permitting, Monitoring and Compliance, as well as the Dam Safety and Encroachment Management Act, the Clean Streams Law, and the Administrative Code of 1929.

Beyond the Program's typical construction-related tasks, you will also enhance compliance efforts in the agricultural sector, which entails providing increased field presence for inspections and investigations of both permitted operations, such as Concentrated Animal Feed Operations (CAFOs), and non-permitted agricultural activities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,345 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of professional experience as a Sanitarian, Air Quality Specialist, Solid Waste Specialist, or Water Quality Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirement:
  • This position requires the possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
