Requirements

In this critical position, your responsibilities will include creating and reviewing necessary calculations, designs, and analyses to secure permits and address environmental concerns.

You will evaluate the environmental impacts of both proposed and existing transportation facilities, considering aspects such as landforms, water quality, land use, cultural resources, and the effects on threatened and endangered species.

The role also involves conducting environmental analyses and preparing technical reports on hazardous waste, wetland investigations, and species assessments.

Additionally, you will review studies related to natural resources and pollution control as part of the environmental clearance process, while researching the potential impacts of transportation projects on various environmental and community factors.

Fieldwork will be a significant aspect of the role, encompassing wetland identification, species surveys, waste investigations, and monitoring post-construction activities, as well as providing support to construction and maintenance teams in resolving issues.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of progressive professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning; or
  • Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • A Master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and two years of progressive professional environmental planning experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
