This job involves designing, building, and maintaining water and wastewater systems in Pennsylvania's state parks and forests to protect the environment and public health.

As an Environmental Engineering Specialist, you will perform a variety of environmental engineering duties associated with the design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and inspection of drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects on Pennsylvania state park and state forest lands.
You will assist with design engineering tasks for single- and multi-discipline construction projects, including repair, alteration, renovation, and capital improvements for drinking water, wastewater, and bathing facilities located on DCNR lands.
In addition, you will assist in the preparation of permit applications for construction, modification, and operation of water systems, sewage systems, swimming pools, and other water and sanitary management facilities.
This role involves conducting field work inclusive of collecting GPS survey data, field measurements, topography, aerial mapping, land survey, soil sampling, percolation testing, water sampling, and stream and wetland identification surveys.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
