Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position serves as a Engineering Technician and provides nonprofessional technical design work and project management support to projects involving multiple engineering disciplines and complex military major and minor construction.

Specialized Experience required: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service which includes 1) Overseeing the planning, design, revitalization, and quality assurance of improvements of housing facilities, communities and other real property, 2) Reviewing and evaluates technical specifications and proposals for all phases of family housing community planning, development, redevelopment and construction, 3) Assuring communication and utility requirements are coordinated with the appropriate government and/or non-government agencies, 4) Performing long-range construction analysis in order to ensure appropriate facility maintenance and repair.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service,GS-09. Major Duties:

  • As a Engineering Technician, you will perform the following duties which is not all inclusive list:
  • Develop programming documents and directs the preparation of plans and specifications for new construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of a variety of installation facilities.
  • Perform technical studies to determine the capabilities of existing facilities, define requirements for new facilities and to determine the impact of newly assigned programs.
  • Analyze and evaluate work order requests for repair, maintenance and construction submitted by the installation and tenants.
  • Make on-site visits to obtain information on site conditions and location.
  • Make on site visits during construction to check progress, verify contractor compliance and resolve problems.
