Job Description
Summary
This job involves overseeing road and bridge construction projects, inspecting work to ensure quality, and managing paperwork like estimates and reports for the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
It also includes supervising staff, collecting samples, and performing surveys on job sites.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in construction inspection who is detail-oriented, physically fit for outdoor work, and comfortable leading a team.
Key Requirements
- High school diploma and 4.5 years of progressively responsible engineering technician experience, or approved equivalence
- Technician Certification per SCDOT policy (may substitute for 6 months of experience)
- Ability to manage intermediate to complex road and bridge construction projects
- Proficiency in producing monthly estimates using AWP software
- Experience in construction inspection, reporting, and maintaining equipment
- Physical ability to bend, kneel, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs, walk rough terrain, and work near traffic or in hazards
- Willingness to work outside normal schedules, including weekends, and supervise/train staff
