Base salary range: $74,441 - $96,770

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves supporting submarine overhauls at a naval shipyard by providing technical guidance to mechanics on temporary shipboard structures and facilities, troubleshooting issues, and creating detailed reports and plans.
It requires hands-on experience in engineering tasks like estimating work hours, ordering materials, and collaborating on repairs.
A good fit would be someone with technical expertise in shipbuilding or maintenance, strong problem-solving skills, and familiarity with drafting software, ideally from a military or industrial background.
You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the TEMPORARY SERVICES STRUCTURAL BRANCH (CODE 230.3), TEMPORARY SYSTEMS & SERVICES DIVISION of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialist experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience writing and reviewing job summaries, component unit (CU) phases, and task group instructions (TGI's); Experience ordering materials, process estimator action requests (EAR's) and farmouts; Experience preparing manhour estimates, status and technical reports, correspondence, calculations, schedules and milestones; Experience troubleshooting issues and recommending repairs, replacements, modifications, structural and operational changes with Project teams; Experience reviewing and evaluating tests for proper structural engineering requirements and operation.
Experience with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software programs to execute engineering products.
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience developing job summaries and task group instructions (TGI's); Experience assisting in ordering materials, process estimator action requests (EAR's) and farmouts; Experience with Shipyard manhour estimates, status and technical reports, and correspondence; Experience collaborating on issues and recommending repairs, replacements, modifications, structural and operational changes with Project tams; Experience assisting in reviewing and evaluating tests for proper structural requirements and operation.
