Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an engineering technician for the Navy's surface ship maintenance program, where you'll plan studies, develop work processes, and help manage day-to-day operations like procurement, supply, and ship repairs.

You'll also visit ships to check their condition and join meetings to track maintenance requirements.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing technical engineering analysis functions to plan or conduct studies (e.g.

procurement, supply, manpower, ship maintenance planning, etc.) for the development of organizational structures or work processes.

  • You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Surface Ship Maintenance Planning Program (SURFMEPP).
  • You will plan, implement and/or maintain engineering and management approaches.
  • You will assist all levels of management in the execution of day-to-day business management of SURFMEPP.
  • You will plan studies that involve a major management function (e.g., procurement, supply, manpower, ship maintenance planning, etc) or significant segments of several major management functions.
  • You will develop organizational structures, work processes, or paperwork management systems.
  • You will apply analytical ability and evaluative techniques to management problems.
  • You will propose ways to improve and carry out management functions in a sound, appropriate manner.
  • You will conduct ship visits to assess, evaluate and monitor key platform and system condition and maintenance issues.
  • You will manage Mandatory Technical Requirements (MTR) for assigned surface ships throughout the recurring deployment, repair, and training cycles.
  • You will participate in maintenance team meetings such as Planning Board for Maintenance, Integrated Planning Team Development, CNO Availability Planning, by contributing updated status on MTRs.
