This job involves driving and maintaining heavy construction and maintenance machines powered by gasoline or diesel, such as those used for building or fixing things on a military base.
Workers also check equipment for problems and do basic upkeep to keep everything running safely.
It's a good fit for hands-on people with experience operating vehicles or machinery who can work independently and follow safety rules in a physical outdoor environment.
About the Position: Operates various gasoline or diesel powered construction and maintenance equipment, and performs routine operating maintenance on equipment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision.
Must possess the ability to perform common tasks including operating gasoline or diesel powered construction and maintenance equipment; performing routine maintenance on equipment and inspecting equipment for signs of wear or damage.
- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc.
(Related to Mobile Equipment Operation) Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Efforts: The physical demands of the worker are high since he is required to operate several different types of equipment and also various types of hand tools doing hand labor.
Good hand, foot and eye coordination, depth perception and concentration are required.
When possible and practical, mechanical hoists, dollies, hand trucks, etc., are used and fellow workers assist when needed. At no time is the pace or weight lifts to exceed safety, regulations.
Worker is required to keep his eyes and ears open at all times and be able to distinguish color. A physical examination is required each year for operators.
Working Conditions: The worker when operating equipment is exposed to moving machinery practically all the time.
He may receive from very minor to fatal injuries if he disregards rules and regulations governing the operation and performance of his or other equipment or tools. Major Duties:
