Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) WG-08: Ability to do the work of a(n) Engineering Equipment Operator ~ without more than normal supervision.

I have the ability to perform common Engineering Equipment Operator tasks.

I can operate various types of heavy equipment in receiving, storage, issuing or movement of materials to storage or maintenance facilities.

I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) WG-09: Ability to do the work of a(n) Engineering Equipment Operator ~ without more than normal supervision.

I have the ability to perform common Engineering Equipment Operator tasks.

I can operate a variety of heavy equipment, such as bulldozers, tractors, trailers, or forklifts in receiving, issuing and movement to storage and maintenance facilities.

I can operate vehicles equipped with draw bars.

I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Must change the position of the attachments and/or cable hook-ups often and rapidly requiring lifting 40lbs or more, pushing, pulling, bending or stooping as he/she adjusts equipment to the changing conditions within the work area.

Working Conditions: Work requires considerable muscular effort and dexterity, and is performed for the most part outside, subjecting incumbent to extremes of temperature, rain, mud, snow, sun, etc.

There is constant danger of equipment tipping, overturning, exhaustion from jolting and vibration of equipment. Major Duties:

  • Operate a variety of wheeled (from 1/4 ton to 22 ton) and tracked (up to 60 tons) vehicles in transport, storage placement, load carrying and equipment transfer.
  • Operate large industrial vehicles (farm tractor, bulldozer, dump trucks, cargo trucks, tractor trailer, cranes, etc.) through confined spaces to avoid damage to equipment and surrounding area.
  • Comply with environmental laws/regulations for the selection and application of herbicides and insecticides used control of control plant diseases, undesirable insects, and unwanted grass and weeds.
  • Operate gasoline/diesel powered industrial vehicles in a variety of road, terrains, and weather conditions in accordance with safety rules/regulations.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements in placement, storage and shipment of materiel and equipment.
  • Operate large industrial vehicles on steep and rough terrain under changing weather conditions.
