The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water, is recruiting for a Job Engineering Assistant 2-3/Engineering Associate in Anchorage.
This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:
This position supports the Geodetic Surveyor in managing and maintaining the Alaska Continuously Operating Reference System (ACORN) a Real Time Reference Network using Global Navigation Satellite System (CORS/RTRN GNSS).
The role involves building and maintaining CORS stations, configuring and maintaining the Real Time Network (RTN) infrastructure, and coordinating with other state, federal, and Canadian RTN administrators.
The position performs advanced engineering tasks to address and resolve complex technical issues, provides hardware and software training to network users, and develops and maintains professional relationships and outreach with onsite contacts, RTN IT staff, and various stakeholders.
This position is also responsible for training and outreach to network users and various stakeholders.

The Survey Section provides surveying services to manage and maximize the use of more than 100 million acres of state-owned land. Boundary disputes, easement vacations, subdivisions, and development of state land all require the professional services of the DNR Land Survey Section.

Engineering Assistant 2 – Starting Salary $37.78
Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, with a major in engineering, architecture, or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET.ANDOne year of entry-level engineering, architectural, or land surveying experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Or:A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution not accredited by ABET.ANDAn Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination.ANDOne year of entry-level engineering, architectural, or land surveying experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Or:Five years of progressively responsible subprofessional engineering experience, of which two years were spent as a journey-level engineering technician or drafting technician 3 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:Graduate study in engineering and/or architecture may be substituted for the required experience as an Engineering Assistant 1. (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month of experience).

Engineering Assistant 3 – Starting Salary $43.19
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET.
ANDTwo years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level.
The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Or:A bachelor's degree with a major in a branch of engineering from an institution not accredited by ABET.
ANDAn Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
ANDTwo years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level.
The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitutions:Four years of any combination of ABET accredited postsecondary education in engineering, architecture, or land surveying (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) and/or engineering, architectural or land surveying experience may substitute for the required degree.
Graduate study in engineering or architecture may be substituted for the required experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month).
Engineering Associate 1 – Starting Salary $43.19
Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering, land surveying or architecture, of which one year was as an Engineering Assistant 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:ABET accredited college or technical school courses in engineering, architecture, land surveying or a closely related curriculum may be substituted for the non-specific required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET may substitute for four years of the non-specific required experience.
