Pay Schedule I, Grade 27, Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week
A vacancy exists in the Department of Public Works: Engineering and Construction, Sewer Design Section.
A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below.
Current and future vacancies occurring within this class may be filled from the list of eligible applicants.

Requirements
Under close supervision, performs routine professional engineering work under the guidance of a licensed engineer, work included but not limited to the following:
- Improves the engineered infrastructure for Baltimore County working with teams of engineers in the Sewer Design section.
- Assists in the feasibility assessment, design, technical review and project management of capital sanitary sewer engineering projects, including the drafting and reviewing of plans, determination of right-of-way requirements, writing of special provisions, preparation of construction estimates, review of consultant design plans, and grading plans
- Assists in the performance of GIS work and computer-aided drafting and design of engineering drawings, plans, and projects.
- Assists in the preparation of engineering reports and technical studies.
- Prepares, submits, and/or assists consultants with applications for various permits required for capital improvement projects.
- Participates in meetings with consultants, contractors, suppliers, citizens, and others. Prepares correspondence related to projects.
- Meets with field personnel on-site.
- Works with citizens and community groups to resolve complaints concerning sewer projects

Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering,
OR
Possession of a certificate of registration as an Engineer in Training issued by a State within the United States of America.
Preferred Qualifications:College coursework, internships, and/or work experience in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering.
Licenses and Certificates Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license may be required for some positions at the time of appointment.
Proof of License(s), Certification(s) and Education Applicants are required to submit proof of license(s), certification(s) and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

Physical and Environmental Conditions The work of this classification is essentially sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, and other limited physical activities including travel to various work sites.
