Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of engineers to design, build, and deploy advanced testing equipment for the Navy's Vertical Launching System, a key missile launcher used on ships.

You'll manage projects, mentor staff, and ensure everything meets Navy standards while coordinating with various programs.

Full Job Description

You will serve as an ENGINEER in the VERTICAL LAUNCHING SYSTEM AND AUR, SENSORS WEAPONS AND LAUNCHERS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze.

Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 (GS-09/11 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Engineer analyzing engineering requirements to develop plans and designs, formulate and present conclusions, and recommend technical decisions impacting the development or testing of systems.

  • You will serve as the Team Lead for the Automated Test Equipment Branch providing technical leadership and project management for the design, development, and deployment of advanced test equipment for the MK 41 Vertical Launching System.
  • You will manage a team of engineers, ensure efficient tasking, mentoring, and deliver high-quality solutions in support of multiple Navy programs and allied nations' requirements.
  • You will assign tasks to team members based on skill sets and project requirements, and mentor engineers to promote professional development and technical expertise.
  • You will lead engineering development efforts for multiple VLS test equipment projects.
  • You will provide expert guidance in system design, integration, test validation, and oversee project execution to ensure compliance with technical standards and Navy program requirements.
  • You will develop and oversee project schedules to meet critical milestones and delivery timelines, and coordinate resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects, and monitor project budgets to ensure cost-effective execution.
  • You will act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, including branch management, and external Navy programs.
