Job Description

Summary

This job involves working for the U.S.

Marine Corps to improve energy use and efficiency in military base facilities, such as reviewing utility systems, conducting surveys, and recommending cost-saving improvements.

A good fit would be someone with experience in energy management or engineering who enjoys solving practical problems in a government setting.

It requires hands-on technical skills and the ability to analyze data to make bases run more efficiently.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 level or equivalent, focusing on energy conservation, cost effectiveness, and utility system efficiency
  • Experience in project development, budget requests, and energy monitoring for base utilities
  • Ability to provide technical evaluations of new and existing projects, including facilities and utility plans
  • Skills in analyzing management reports and recommending corrective measures for system efficiency
  • Proficiency in conducting utility surveys and reports per HQMC directives
  • Capability to perform engineering inspections of plant equipment, evaluate data, and recommend repairs or improvements
  • Experience with field investigations during construction, addressing design changes and interfaces with existing structures

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: improving energy conservation, cost effectiveness, and operation efficiency of the base utility systems including project development, budget requests, and energy monitoring.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will provide technical evaluations of new and existing projects and review facilities, utility plans and system expansions or alterations.
  • You will analyze management reports prepared by the FMS and for making appropriate recommendations to the Utilities Director for various corrective measures to increase system efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • You will conduct utility surveys and reports in accordance with current directives from HQMC.
  • You will perform engineering inspection of plant equipment, evaluates data, prepares utility targets and recommends repairs, alterations, or improvements.
  • You will perform field investigations during construction involving difficult problems such as changes in design due to latent conditions and interfaces new work with existing structures and/or those under construction.
