Base salary range: $104,604 - $135,987
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-13. Senior expert or supervisor.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves running a confidential support program for DEA employees and their families dealing with personal or work-related challenges, like stress or crises, by offering counseling, crisis help, and wellness training.
A good fit would be an experienced mental health professional who enjoys helping people in high-stress environments and has a background in program management and employee support services.
This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Executive and Staff Offices, Office of the Deputy Administrator, Employee Assistance Program Section.
This position(s) primary purpose is to assist and maintain a confidential program that assists all DEA employees which may be facing various life challenges which can affect job performance, health, professional and personal well-being.

Valid License Requirement: Applicants must possess a valid and unrestricted state license to practice professional counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, clinical psychology or counseling psychology.
Examples may include: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Counseling Psychologist, Ph.D.
Basic Qualification Requirements: Degree: Behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Applicants applying for the GS-14 must meet one of the following requirements: A.
Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-13 grade level.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in leading Employee Assistance Program (EAP) operations and service delivery; 2) Conducting evidence-based crisis interventions and coordinating counseling services; 3) Evaluating EAP program effectiveness and utilization trends to inform program enhancements; 4) Delivering employee wellness and resilience trainings; and 5) Maintaining nationwide referral networks of community treatment and rehabilitation resources.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:
As a Employee Assistance Program Specialist, your typical work assignments may include: Serves as a technical expert/consultant in providing expert consultative and counseling services for DEA personnel and family members.
Provides immediate crisis management services to individuals, couples, families and work groups who are the victims of operational critical incidents or personal critical incidents, Advises EAP management on design, development, and implementation of programs.
Collaborated with EAP Team in developing goals, solutions, approaches, and concepts. Assesses existing programs to ensure that they continue to meet the needs of DEA.
Ensures that a referral network of community treatment and rehabilitation resources are maintained nationwide.
