Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an electronics technician focused on navigation systems for the U.S.

Navy, where you'll inspect, repair, troubleshoot, and train others on equipment like inertial navigators and compasses aboard ships.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Electronics Technician (Navigation) in the Department of the Navy of FWD DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET ROTA, Spain.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical services to include, inspecting, repairing, and providing training on navigation equipment and systems (e.g.

WSN-7 Ring Laser Inertial Navigator, SSN-6 NAVSSI, AN/SSN-9 GPNTS, Electromagnetic Log (EMLOG), MV103 Fluxgate Magnetic Compass, Integrated Bridge Navigation System (IBNS/IBS)); 2) Troubleshooting, repairing, and configuring Navigation Systems and their interfaces; 3) Utilizing associated engineering disciplines (e.g.

mechanical, electrical, electronic, and structural) to resolve problems affecting the Navigation systems; 4) Providing technical assistance for mission degrading Casualty Reports (CASREP).

  • You will provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREP) or similar problems affecting assigned equipment, frequently on TDY, beyond reach of supervisory assistance/guidance, without customary references.
  • You will provide technical assistance on less urgent but complex technical problems beyond the capability of forces afloat, intermediate maintenance activities, or repair activities to diagnose and correct.
  • You will perform functional checkout, grooming, adjustment, and test of repaired, new or modernized shipboard systems in a systems qualifications test environment
  • You will serve as a team leader of organized teams composed of not fewer than five (5) General Schedule technicians (or contractor equivalent) with responsibility for functional checkout, test, and inspection of major systems.
