This job involves maintaining and repairing high-powered radio transmission equipment and related electronic systems at a Navy communications site, ensuring everything runs smoothly for military operations.
Workers tune, test, fix, and install gear like transmitters and control systems, while also training others and keeping detailed records.
It's a good fit for experienced electronics technicians who enjoy hands-on technical work in a structured military environment and can handle complex machinery independently.
You will serve as an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (VLFT) in the COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT of NRS T JIM CREEK.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK WITHOUT NORMAL SUPERVISION: Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, circuit diagrams, programmable logic circuitry, technical equipment maintenance and operations manuals, and specifications.
Experience using a wide variety of electronic test instruments.
Experience using hand tools including screwdriver, wrenches, pliers, drills, taps, dies, wire strippers, soldering irons, solder pots, heat sinks, and solder extractors.
Experience working with delicate or precision parts of programmable logic circuitry in a neat and accurate manner, Experience using standard computer programs such as Word, Access, Excel, etc.
Experience and possess knowledge of Navy's 3M Program. Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
