Full Job Description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This National Guard position is for an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1204000 and is part of the KS Maneuver And Training Equipment Site, Army National Guard.

Military Grades: E-3 through E-9 or WO1 Compatible Military Assignments: Immaterial GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions, and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment.

Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems.

Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment.

Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc.

Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires frequent lifting and carrying of unassisted items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Required to lift and carry items weighing more than 40 pounds with the help of material handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.

Work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping. Climbing and working in high places may be required.

Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is typically performed in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas.

Work may be in high and restricted places, under conditions of heat and cold, and/or outside in inclement weather. Exposed to the possibility of electric shock, burns, and to cuts and bruises.

Major Duties:

As an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, WG-2604-10, you will perform troubleshooting and routine repairs on individual components and moderately complex systems of launch pod/containers (LP/C), trainer rocket simulator modules, Missiles/Launchers Pod Assemblies (M/LPA), trainer missile simulator modules, and various like items.

Troubleshoot carrier electrical and power distributions systems components of the weapon system or equipment being repaired.

Perform functional tests, analyze performance and malfunctions, remove, install, test, maintain, modify, perform alignments and troubleshoot the electronic, electrical, modules, and interconnecting cables of a variety of combat and tactical, and communication equipment.

Perform field and limited sustainment maintenance to include installation, routine maintenance, repair, and overhaul of fixed and mobile operational communication and electronics systems, e.g., shelter mounted AM radio and teletype systems, shelter mounted single side band radio and teletype systems, shelter mounted radio relay and terminal systems, other moderately complex systems, peripheral equipment, and related test equipment, and Modification Table Of Equipment (MTOE) authorized automation equipment.

Use various types of test equipment to include systems test sets and stands such as AN/GRM-122s, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, ohmmeters, voltmeters, resistance bridges, and signal generators to localize trouble by component unit, by circuit within a component, and by element of a circuit.

Use special and common hand tools, power tools, and gauges to make intricate repairs.

Perform administrative functions in establishing and maintaining maintenance records on equipment maintained or repaired. Assist in the preparation of requests for required repair parts.

Perform other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 4/10's compressed work schedule with four 10-hour days, Tuesday-Friday each week of the pay period.

Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.
