This job is for a supervisor who leads a team of mechanics maintaining and repairing electronic systems in aircraft for the Air Force Reserve.

It combines full-time civilian work with required military reserve duties, like monthly weekend training.

Full Job Description

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service.

In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month.

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for WG-2600 - Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Family.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 - Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Family.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is the ability to lead or supervise as an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic Supervisor.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised. Knowledge and practical application of MIS (e.g. CAMS, GO-81) programs. 2.

Knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment. 3.

Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems. 4.

Knowledge in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment. 5.

Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. 6. Ability to implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. 2. Must meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements.

3. The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned some non-ART duties,generally, not exceed 30 % of total responsibilities. 4.

Work schedules will be so aligned to allow the individual to function fully on unit training assembly (UTA) weekends. 5. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. 6. This is a testing designated position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. 7. Performs uncommon tours of duty.

May be required to work other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. 8. May be required to fly in military or commercial aircraft for TDY purposes. 9.

The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds).

Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs.). Hours of straight pulling are 1 hour per week. Hours of pushing is 1 hour per week. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required.

Hours of walking are 4 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of crawling are 1 hour per week.

Hours of kneeling are I hour per week Hours of repeated bending are 3 hours per week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required.

Operation of cranes, trucks, tractors, or motor vehicles may be required. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.

Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger I to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception.

Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing (without aid). ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Outside and inside (other than normal commuting). Excessive noise, intermittent. Constant noise. Electrical energy.

Slippery or uneven walking surface. Working around machinery with moving parts. Working around moving objects or vehicles. Working closely with others.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Supervisor, exercising technical and administrative supervision over mechanics engaged in aircraft electrical maintenance activities, enforcing schedules and directing work priorities over various skilled mechanics.

Trains reservist in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein. Duties: 1: Performs work planning responsibilities. Performs administration responsibilities.

2: Performs work direction responsibilities.
