This job involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment at a U.S. Army base in Fort Riley, Kansas, ensuring everything runs safely and efficiently.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located with the Department of Public Works, Operations and Maintenance Division at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Minimum Qualifications WG 08 (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician ~ without more than normal supervision.
I have the ability to perform common electrical maintenance and repair duties.
I can perform common tasks including bending and installing conduit, installing boxes and fixtures, and pulling wire using basic hand and power tools such as measuring tapes, conduit benders, pliers, screw drivers, drills, and rotary hammers while assisting the journeyman Electrician; and keeping parts and tools storage cabinets properly arranged and maintaining current inventories.
I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Minimum Qualifications WG 10 (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician ~ without more than normal supervision.
I have the ability to perform common electrical maintenance and repair duties on existing electrical lines, circuits and fixtures.
I can operate common hand tools and measuring devices of the electrical trade, such as screw drivers, wire cutters, strippers, and/or test meters.
Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: Moderately heavy physical effort is exerted as incumbent works aloft on poles, at ground level, and in ground trenches, or manholes.
Work requires bending, stooping, climbing and standing for long periods.
Coordination of eyes, hands, legs, and body is needed in installing, repairing, and testing electrical equipment in confined spaces such as manholes and overhead structures.
Light physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
Moderate physical effort is required in the handling of objects weighing up to 20 pounds and the occasional handling of objects weighing over 40 pounds.
Making couplings between vehicle and towed equipment requires moderate physical effort in that heavy chains, bars, hooks, etc. must be lifted and properly secured.
Working Conditions: Works outside most of the time, subject to extremes of weather conditions and in close proximity to high voltage lines and equipment.
Subject to injury by contact with high voltage lines, and service panels, strains from awkward positions, and less serious cuts and bruises when handling tools and materials.
Drives in all types of traffic and weather and is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents.
Subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles. Major Duties:
