Full Job Description

Under general supervision, is responsible for performing skilled advanced journeyman level work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of both high and low voltage electrical systems and equipment. May exercise supervision over assigned staff.

5800 Historic Old Hwy. 90 W.

Work Hours
6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Shifts are subject to change to accommodate special events, evening coverage, rotating weekends, and holiday shift work, as dictated by business needs. On-call will be required to support non-operating hours.

Requirements

  • Installs, alters, repairs, and maintains both high and low voltage motors, generators, motor controllers, panel boxes, transformers, and wiring systems, which involves frequently lifting and carrying equipment weighing 30 pounds.
  • Troubleshoots electrical systems to diagnose electrical problems and performs required repairs.
  • Installs, alters, repairs, and maintains special metering, control, telemetering, and recording equipment.
  • Makes estimates of required time and materials needed to complete assigned task or jobs.
  • Maintains accurate records of time and materials used in the maintenance and repair history of all electrical equipment.
  • Performs high and low voltage electrical hookups for special events.
  • Operates electrical tools to install and perform general maintenance on lighting systems, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
  • Four (4) years of experience in dedicated electrical maintenance or construction.
  • Licensed as a Journeyman Electrician by the State of Texas.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience operating Hi-Rangers and scissor lifts.
  • One (1) year of experience using a work order system.
  • One (1) year of experience with CRM/SAP.
  • Valid Class "B" Driver's License (CDL).

    One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

  • Ability to locate and correct defects in electrical systems, devices, machines, and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the general public.
  • Ability to perform all the physical with or without accommodations, intellectual, and analytical requirements of the position including decision making.
  • Working conditions are inside and outside with occasional exposure to temperature variations, damp/wet surfaces, hazardous materials, and high noise areas.
