This job is for an experienced electrician who acts as a working supervisor, fixing, maintaining, and installing electrical systems at a busy airport on Hawaii Island, while overseeing a team of other electricians.

Key Requirements

This vacancy is with the Department of Transportation, Airports Division.

Requirements

This class reflects the working supervisor performing skilled electrical work in the repair, maintenance and installation of electrical systems and equipment. As a major work assignment, supervises the work of skilled electricians as a continuing work assignment, including setting the pace and quality of work; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Electrician's License: A valid State of Hawaii Journey Worker Electrician License or Journey Worker Industrial Electrician License, and ONE (1) YEAR OF WORK EXPERIENCE as a licensed electrician performing a variety of skilled electrical work in the repair, maintenance and installation of electrical systems and equipment as a regular and continuing assignment; OR a valid State of Hawaii Supervising Electrician License or Supervising Industrial Electrician License is required at the time of application.

Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.

Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport, must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
