Under the supervision of the Maintenance Mechanic 4 for the West Region of the State Maintenance and Support Services (SMSS) Branch within the Construction and Facilities Management Office (CFMO), this position is responsible for performing skilled journey-level electrician functions such as installation, maintenance and repair work on low and high voltage electrical equipment and generator systems.

This is a civilian position and does not require military service affiliation.

Requirements


Responsibilities include:

  • Perform skilled journey-level electrician functions such as installation, maintenance and repair work on low voltage electrical equipment and systems within 120/208-240 volts, single and 3 phase circuits, and 480 volts 3 phase circuits, as associated with assigned work efforts for CFMO-related facilities, systems and equipment.
  • Journey-level work in the completion of assigned electrical preventative maintenance, electrical maintenance and repair and electrical non-repair efforts.
  • Performs grounds and custodial assistance, as assigned.

Qualifications


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician high voltage as attested by certified hours reported to Washington Department of Labor and Industries, OR
  • Full journey status as an electrician high voltage in a union, OR
  • Four years' applicable work experience.
Vocational training may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

License:
  • General Electrical License (EL-01) issued by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
Knowledge of:
  • Journey level understanding of high voltage electrical installation and maintenance/repair of buildings and equipment.
  • CMMS functions as related to preventative maintenance, repair efforts, and inventory.
  • Basic safety, building, environmental, and construction codes and regulations.
Skills and Abilities to:
  • Perform journey level work in all types of building maintenance work.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite (Outwork, Word, etc.) to develop documents in support of program requirements.

Compensation: Wage/salary depends on qualifications or rules of promotion.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT


Background Investigation: Must successfully complete the appropriate background checks required for employment and to obtain and maintain a JBLM Temporary Pass through JBLM's Visitor Control Center and/or Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC) required to access DoD computer systems. Must be willing to sign releases of information and shall not have access to any investigative materials and files. The processing of background checks can take up to six months post-employment. Failure to successfully pass a background check may be cause for termination.


Union Shop Provision: This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association (WPEA).


Driver's License:

  1. Valid to drive in the State of Washington.
  2. Must meet requirements of the REAL ID Act. This is required for base access and will be required upon hire.

Military Facility: Willingness to work on a Military Controlled Access Installation.
Camp Murray utilizes the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) for entry to the installation. Must meet access requirements / background check which can be found in the Camp Murray Access Requirements Policy (Unified Policy No. 18-01). This includes possession of an Enhanced Driver’s License, or other REAL ID Compliant Identification.

Work Hours: A choice between a Tuesday through Friday (4/10 schedule) or Monday through Friday (5/8 schedule). Actual hours will start no earlier than 6:00 am and end no later than 6:00 pm and will include core business hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Telework: This position is not eligible for telework.

Emergency Assignment: Upon activation of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) or Joint Field Office (JFO), incumbent may be required to work in an alternate location with rotating shifts, including weekends and evenings, in a highly stressful and fast-paced environment.

Travel: Occasional statewide travel may be required up to 10% to include overnight stays.
