This vacancy is for a GS - 1702 - 5, Educational Technician located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia.
To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the federal sector.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.
Assisting with the delivery of age-appropriate early childhood education and developmental care for children enrolled in a child development program.
Assisting with communication and coordination with parents or guardians to support understanding of basic child growth and developmental milestones.
Assisting with the orientation and on-the-job training of new caregivers by demonstrating basic childcare routines, safety procedures, and daily operational practices.
Assisting in the development and maintenance of tracking systems and coordinating the distribution of program directives with the child development center (CDC) clerical team to support compliance with established policies and procedures.
Assisting with the special needs assessment process by collecting and organizing information about children's developmental and behavioral needs.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
You will serve as an Educational Technician and be responsible for performing duties as the team leader for childcare activity rooms for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
The technician will mentor and coach teachers and caregiver on providing age-appropriated developmental childcare. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include: Providing appropriate, early education developmental care and instruction for children enrolled using CG Child Developmental Services and National Accreditation standards and guidelines.
Partnering with parents to promote understanding of child growth and development. Providing job training and orientation for new caregivers.
Developing a system and coordinating directives with CDC clerical team for compliance. Participating in special needs assessment process and the development of a child's accommodation plans.
