About the Position: The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is transitioning to the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) This position is located at the Office of the Director, Strategic and Organizational Excellence, Research, Planning and Monitoring Branch in Alexandria, Virginia.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Basic Requirement for Education Research Analyst: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position, of which at least one course was in research methods and at least two courses were in statistics.
OR Combination of Education and Experience: At least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position, of which at least one course was in research methods and at least two courses in statistics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
The experience must have demonstrated (1) a thorough knowledge of the principles underlying the work of this position, and (2) understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the methods and techniques applied in performing work in this position.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing research or evaluation activities for an education system or related field and 2) preparing statistical reports, and 3) providing evidence-based recommendations for improvement of school systems.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
