Summary

This job is for a Licensed Practical Nurse at a Washington state facility on McNeil Island that provides care and rehabilitation to individuals with cognitive disabilities and histories of sexual offenses.

DSHS SCC Licensed Practical Nurse 2 (LPN2)

We have a great opportunity for you to join our nursing team at the Special Commitment Center (SCC) as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) 2 and make a meaningful impact. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide compassionate, person-centered care to individuals with cognitive disabilities, supporting their health, well-being, and dignity. As part of a dedicated team, you’ll help foster a collaborative environment where inclusion, respect, and empowerment are at the core of everything we do.

Located in McNeil Island, our facility is surrounded by nature, wildlife, old history and amazing views of Mount Rainier and the beautiful Puget sound. We treat people who are detained and/or civilly committed and assists them in addressing their sexual offending histories.

We take pride in teamwork and positive energy channel into our day-to-day activities. Our staff is appreciated and extremely valuable in assisting with the rehabilitation and treatment of the residents we care for on a daily basis.

SCC employees also receive an additional $10 per day premium pay in addition to advertised salary and a free ORCA card for transportation use. Ferry transportation is provided to McNeil Island employees. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

The Shift: Day Shift - Sunday to Wednesday 6:00am - 4:00pm.

Some of what you'll be doing:
  • Transcribe and verify orders.
  • Order medications refills and renewals.
  • Inform Providers and Nurse Manager of developments or changes in residents’ health status.
  • Educate residents on health conditions, medication management, and treatment plans.
  • Maintain optimal pharmacy operations.
  • Prepare and maintain medication carts.
  • Provide patient care to our aging facility population.
  • Provide treatment and nursing care for people who have mental illnesses developmental disabilities, other neurological, physiological, or behavioral health disorders.
  • Assist in developing and managing Individual rehabilitation plans for residents to help improve and maintain health.
  • Implement care plans, administer medications, and assist the physician and other medical staff with treatments and exams.
  • Respond to medical calls and emergencies.
  • Other duties as assigned by providers, RN3, and/or RN4.
  • Must be Up to date on their nursing skill and abilities such as IV starts, IV fluids administration, laboratory processes and phlebotomy.
