This job is for an experienced occupational therapist at a new transitional care facility in Washington state that supports youth aged 13 and older with intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, or substance use disorders.
The role involves assessing patients, providing therapy for daily living skills, creating treatment plans, and collaborating with a team to help residents build independence in a supportive environment.
It's ideal for licensed therapists who enjoy working with youth, supervising assistants, and contributing to injury prevention in a growing facility.
The Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility opened in July of 2024 with support from the Department of Social and Health Services, the Department of Children, Youth and Families, Health Care Authority, MultiCare, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
As an Occupational Therapist 3, you will be involved in coordinating facility activities and programs.
You will conduct workplace consultations to assist the facility in preventing musculoskeletal injuries or adjusting job roles for safer and more comfortable work environments.
You will work under general supervision, administering occupational therapy services, and function as the sole professional occupational therapist.
The facility has 12 beds and 108 full-time employees with potential growth to 24 beds and 196+ full-time employees. The property was designed with children and youth in mind and features accessible spaces for onsite educational services and therapies, as well as access to outdoor space. The voluntary facility will initially serve 12 youths. This new therapeutic facility has a focus to help youth, age 13 and older, with co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities who have complex needs such as mental illness or substance use disorder.
