Job Description

Summary

This job is for a skilled maintenance mechanic at a behavioral health campus, where you'll handle repairs and upkeep for things like heating systems, plumbing, electrical setups, and building structures to keep the facility running smoothly.

It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience in trades who enjoys problem-solving and working as part of a team in a supportive environment.

You'll respond to daily needs, perform routine checks, and ensure safety standards are met.

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • At least four years of experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanical trade
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment in mechanical trades
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms with management, peers, clients, and the public
  • Familiarity with safety precautions, record keeping, and basic computer skills
  • Ability to perform essential functions, including wearing personal protective equipment and operating hand/power tools

Full Job Description

We have a great opportunity for you to join our team as a journey-level tradesperson in the maintenance, and repair within the Maintenance and Operations Division (MOD) at the Olympic Heritage Behavioral Health campus.

As a member of the
our Maintenance and Operations team, you will assist the maintenance shop in performing HVAC, plumbing, painting, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and repairs.

We are seeking Maintenance Mechanics for day shift to join our team.

King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.


Some of what you'll do:
  • Preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as laundry and kitchen equipment; and air­ conditioning equipment
  • Maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution
  • Monitor safety, fire protection, and environmental control equipment to ensure the building systems and equipment are operating in a satisfactory condition
  • Respond to service requests and secure necessary assistance
  • Take preventative and emergency action to control malfunctions
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment
  • Work from plans, sketches, or drawings
  • Estimate materials for completion of the job

What we are looking for:
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions described in this announcement successfully
  • Must be able to communicate with professional conduct and comprehend, through oral and written forms of communication, with management, peers, clients, and the public
  • Dress appropriately for the work to be performed including wearing Personal Protective Equipment when necessary.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of mechanical trades, safety precautions, record keeping, and basic computer skills
