Job Description

Summary

This job is for a primary care doctor at a state psychiatric hospital in Washington, where you'll provide medical care to adult patients dealing with mental health issues, disabilities, and forensic cases.

DSHS Physician 3

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services’ (DSHS) is seeking a Primary Care Provider to join the team at Eastern State Hospital (ESH) psychiatric hospital in Medical Lake, Washington.

Our goal is to hire dedicated and dynamic Family and Internal Medicine Physicians who are comfortable working in an inpatient psychiatric setting.

The salary for this position is $296,424.00 and we offer competitive benefits, supportive onboarding, meaningful clinical work, life balance and a long-term career opportunity.

Working closely with multiple disciplines, you'll have an influential voice advocating for the physical and medical needs of the people we serve.

You'll provide treatment for adult patient population that includes a variety of forensic, geriatric, and disability challenges.

You'll build working relationships with patients and provide patient-focused medical care with the goal of healthy discharge into the resident's community.

Working hours are Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Your role within the hospital:

  • Direct, review and provide primary medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services to patients; prescribe necessary medication.
  • Perform admission and physical examinations; provide evaluation of laboratory tests.
  • Provide preventative maintenance care; and formulate treatment plans.
  • Review medical histories, diagnostic tests, medication regime, and clinical diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform daily rounds and assess and treat the onset of new medical problems.
  • Implement health prevention guidelines and coordinate referrals for specialty consultants.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures, deliver emergency medical responses and mortality and morbidity reviews.

  • A competitive salary along with 1.25 times regular pay when covering additional workloads, additional monthly pay for board certification, an excellent benefits package, and annual funding for continuing medical education. Relocation assistance available!
  • $10,000/year for Board Certification
  • $6,500 annual allowance for CME courses subject to budget
  • Employee legal representation and/or indemnification
  • Tuition reimbursement of up to $25,000 for qualifying employees
  • Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
