DSHS BHHA Research Investigator 4- Data Warehouse Manager

DSHS' Behavioral Health and Habilitation Administration is seeking to hire a Data Warehouse Manager also known as a Research Investigator 4. In this role you'll play a critical role in advancing data-driven decision-making at Western State Hospital. As the senior data management specialist within the Research, Evaluation, and Data Analysis (REDA) office, this role supports the hospital’s mission by ensuring the integrity, reliability, and strategic use of complex data systems. Operating at the intersection of research, analytics, and performance improvement, you'll manage the hospital’s Data Warehouse and deliver high-level analytical expertise that informs accreditation, certification, and organizational excellence.

Schedule: 7:00am-5:30pm Tuesday- Friday

Some of what you'll do:
  • Develop, maintain, and update performance-measurement datasets and data structures

  • Validate, integrate, and analyze data from multiple systems to support research and reporting

  • Ensure Data Warehouse compliance with ORYX, CMS, TJC, RCW and other regulatory standards

  • Build SPSS & SQL programs and improve data systems, workflows, and reporting processes

  • Develop and maintain EHR data extraction and loading programs; resolve data issues

  • Provide expert guidance on IT system design and partner with REDA, IT, and leadership on data needs

  • Serve as liaison between the EHR and hospital teams; support users across WSH

  • Implement data quality protocols, review abstracted data, and ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, TJC, and state standards

What we're looking for:

A master’s degree in relevant specialty, technical or qualitative field; and four years’ experience in experimental, analytical, or theoretical research in identified specialty area; a Ph.D. may substitute for two years of the desired experience.

AND

For those positions required to supervise, experience must include at least one year of supervisory experience that may be concurrent to other required experience.

OR

Equivalent education/experience in relevant field.

Preferred skills, knowledge and abilities:
  • Apply advanced statistical and analytical skills to design and manage complex data systems
  • Develop, test, and maintain programming code in SPSS, SQL, and related applications
  • Conduct statistical analyses and interpret results to support performance improvement
  • Research, analysis, and document business needs and data requirements
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively in written and verbal form with executive leadership, clinical staff, administrative staff, and other DSHS/BHHA staff
  • Manage multiple priorities with precision, attention to detail, and minimal supervision
  • Exercise independent judgment while recognizing when supervisory consultation is appropriate
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external vendors
  • Manage intranet content and data reporting for Quality Management
  • Demonstrate self-management, accountability, and professionalism in a high-demand environment
