In this position, you will assess the physical and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as evaluate the mechanical condition of vehicles to ensure they meet the established safety standards for driving.
You will conduct various vision tests, including telebinocular and color perception assessments, to gauge applicants' visual capabilities.
Additionally, you will administer both non-commercial and commercial driver license knowledge examinations to verify that individuals possess a solid understanding of the Vehicle Code and traffic signage.
Your responsibilities will also include conducting pre-trip, skills, and driving tests for both non-commercial and commercial licenses, adhering strictly to departmental standards.
You will scrutinize applications, registrations, and permits for any signs of irregularities or fraudulent activity, while also determining vehicle specifications to ensure the correct tests are applied.
Furthermore, you will inspect motor vehicles for compliance with safety features such as inspection stickers, lights, and windshield wipers.
Your role will require you to examine a variety of documents, including applications, birth certificates, Social Security cards, marriage certificates, court documents, proof of residency, and various immigration and citizenship documents, ensuring their authenticity.
You will access multiple systems and databases to verify identity documents, establishing individuals' identities and their eligibility for obtaining a driver’s license or identification card.
A critical aspect of your job will be identifying fraudulent activities and preventing the creation of false identities and identity theft.
You will process test results and applications, issuing driver licenses and identification cards to those who meet the eligibility criteria.
Additionally, you will provide customers with essential information regarding driver’s license renewals, duplicates, out-of-state transfers, and the process for obtaining a motorcycle license or a commercial driver’s license (CDL), including the various restrictions and endorsements associated with each.
Upon request, you will also generate Restoration Requirements Letters for customers who visit in person, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and support.
