Job Description

Summary

This internship supports the state's efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in health and human services by helping with tasks like scheduling, creating training materials, conducting research, and assisting in program development.

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Sociology, Social Work, Race and Ethnic Studies, Law, Human Resources, or related fields, with at least 48 semester credits completed
  • Strong interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong computer skills
  • Ability to perform online research and data analytics
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical skills, and attention to detail
  • Coachable, able to work independently and in a team, in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Intern Responsibilities / Projects:

Logistical responsibilities to support REDI staff (ie.

Scheduling, internal process support)Provision of technical support during training sessions and webinarsDevelopment and distribution of marketing materials for trainingResearch for subject matter used to develop content for trainings related to diversity, equity, and inclusionAssist with development of programs and initiatives that support the mission, vision, and values for the Equity Development DivisionEngagement in individual and collective learning opportunitiesAdditional growth opportunities as identifiedMDHHS is proud to be a Michigan Veteran’s Affairs Agency (MVAA) Gold Level Veteran-Friendly Employer.

Requirements Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with at least 48 semester credits completed (completing sophomore, junior, or senior year) program in the following: Sociology, Social Work, Race and Ethnic Studies, Law, Human Resources, all other person-centered cognatesHours: 10-16 hours a week Materials: The intern will be provided necessary resources, materials, and access to ensure acclimation to the role.

A computer with VPN access will be provided to the employee upon assignment. Timeline: Ongoing.
