The Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 3 is seeking an experienced and motivated leader to serve as Civil Engineer Manager within our Traffic Engineering Department.
In this key role, you will guide, organize, and oversee all traffic engineering operations across the district—shaping safer, smarter, and more efficient transportation systems for the communities we serve.

As the District Traffic Engineer, you will lead and oversee all operations within the district’s Traffic Unit, including work zone traffic control, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic signals and lighting, incident and congestion management, pavement markings, signing, and line painting.
Your leadership will shape strategies that reduce congestion, expand the use of ITS technologies, strengthen safety enhancements, advance highway safety improvement projects, and improve the safety and efficiency of work zones across the district.
You will guide and review a wide range of traffic engineering studies and investigations involving traffic signals, signing, speed limits, pavement markings, crash patterns, permits, and traffic control in work areas.
Your expertise will directly influence decisions that enhance mobility, safety, and reliability for all roadway users.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time upon successful completion of probationary period.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
