This role involves leading advanced research and development for explosive and energetic technologies used in naval weapons, such as warheads and propulsion systems, to improve military capabilities while ensuring safety and efficiency.
The position requires providing expert guidance to Navy and Department of Defense projects, coordinating with labs, universities, and companies.
Ideal candidates are highly experienced scientists or engineers passionate about national defense, innovation in defense tech, and public service.
You will serve as the Distinguished Scientist/Engineer for Energetic Systems at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division, Naval Sea Systems Command.
This position is a direct report to the Technical Director who serves as an SES.
This position will serve as the DON senior technical energetic systems expert for Navy and DoD- related programs, and on issues for other Navy, DoD, and DOE laboratories; academic institutions; and private corporations.

Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and execute programs providing innovative solutions in science and technology and research and development areas related to energetic systems and specifically related to utility and warhead development.
TQ#2.
Demonstrated expertise in energetic system development to include reactive materials, fuzing, initiation systems, prototyping, energetic material additive manufacturing, model-based systems engineering, modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence/machine learning, insensitive munitions, and scale-up and manufacturing.
