Supervisor: Chief of Staff


Nature of Work

This position will oversee the Governor’s Office constituent services team and the strategic appointment process for over 200 state boards, ensuring all candidates are rigorously vetted to align with the Governor’s priorities.

This role manages high-level "will and pleasure" personnel recruitment and the execution of special projects and official executive events.

By coordinating closely with leadership, the Director ensures the Governor’s administrative and public-facing operations function with seamless efficiency and integrity.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for oversight of the constituent services team which carries out the following duties:

    • Ensures timely completion of constituent casework

    • Manages constituent correspondence activities

    • Reviews and vets all requests for gubernatorial proclamations, awards, certificates of commendation, recognitions, and other community engagements

  • Responsible for ensuring that the Governor is supported in all activities related to appointments to the over 200 state government boards and commissions:

    • Establishes and manages processes to identify upcoming board vacancies and timely identify potential replacement candidates

    • Utilizes internal and external networks to identify candidates that align with Governor’s policy agenda

    • Responsible for managing a thorough vetting process to ensure any potential candidate’s background and experience meets all requirements for board/commission service

  • Assists the Governor and Chief of Staff in identifying, vetting, and recommending potential candidates for “will and pleasure” appointments throughout state government

  • Responsible for planning and implementing special projects as directed by Governor and Chief of Staff, Governor Office-sponsored official events, and ad hoc activities as required

  • Coordinates relevant activities with the Director of External Affairs and Governor’s scheduler

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a focus in public administration, business, human resources or law.

  • 4+ years of experience in senior operations or public administration, preferably within a government or corporate environment.

  • Documented experience supervising and managing multiple teams.
