This job involves leading a major logistics center for the Federal Aviation Administration, managing supply chains, equipment repairs, and support services to keep the nation's air traffic system running smoothly and safely.
The role requires overseeing policies, teams, and operations for nationwide aviation infrastructure while serving government agencies.

The Air Traffic Organization (ATO) comprises 35,000 controllers, technicians, engineers, and support personnel whose daily efforts ensure that aircraft are safe, separated, and on time.
Technical Operations Services ensures a safe and efficient National Airspace System (NAS) by effectively managing air navigation services and infrastructure.

MANDATORY TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT (TR): TR: Experience leading, overseeing, and providing strategic direction for an organization responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and compliance for a technical program with an emphasis on logistics.
EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP DIMENSIONS (ELDs) ELD 1: Commitment to the Rule of Law and the Principles of the American Founding – This core qualification requires a demonstrated knowledge of the American system of government, commitment to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law, and commitment to serve the American people.
ELD 2: Driving Efficiency -This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to strategically and efficiently manage resources, budget effectively, cut wasteful spending, and pursue efficiency through process and technological upgrades.
ELD 3: Merit and Competence - This core qualification involves the demonstrated knowledge, ability, and technical competence to effectively and reliably produce work that is of exceptional quality.
ELD 4: Leading People - This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a group toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals, and to drive a high-performance, high-accountability culture.
This includes, when necessary, the ability to lead people through change and to hold individuals accountable.
ELD 5: Achieving Results - This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to achieve both individual and organizational results, and to align results to stated goals from superiors.
Note: If you are a current member of the FAAES, Career SES, or have been certified through successful participation in an OPM-approved SES Candidate Development Program (SESCDP), or have Career SES reinstatement eligibility, you do not need to address the ELDs.
Instead, you should attach proof (e.g., SF-50, Certification by OPM's SES Qualifications Review Board (QRB)) of your eligibility for noncompetitive appointment to the FAAES. Major Duties:
The Director, FAA Logistics Center, located in the Air Traffic Organization, oversees centralized logistics support and supply chain management services for the National Airspace System (NAS) and other foreign and domestic government agencies.
Principal Responsibilities: Oversees compliance with technical and engineering standards, procedures, and policies associated with logistics.
Develops and directs implementation of national material management policy and systems, performance and productivity standards, and related evaluation.
Oversees repair, fabrication, and overhaul of electronic equipment and ground-based systems.
Oversees support for regional and field installations/air traffic facilities, tenant organizations, and other government agencies to ensure efficient and effective delivery of logistics and supply chain management services.
Ensures the FAALC Support System conforms to FAA policies and is able to interface with other national supply chain management systems and the systems of other governmental agencies.
Executes complex supply chain support operations, including inventory control and/or accountability for agency stocks stored at the FAALC.
Interacts with senior executives and officials within the FAA, other federal agencies, the military, state and local governments, the aviation industry, domestic and foreign aviation organizations, and other stakeholders to accomplish the services provided by the FAALC.
