This job involves fixing and maintaining diesel-powered trucks, construction vehicles, and other equipment used by Pennsylvania's transportation department to keep roads safe and connected.
You'll perform routine check-ups, diagnose problems, replace parts, and ensure vehicles pass safety inspections.
It's a great fit for hands-on mechanics who enjoy working with engines and tools and want stable, full-time work outdoors or in a shop.

In this position, you will be responsible for repairing and overhauling various vehicles, including cars, trucks, and tractors, as well as performing maintenance on equipment like sweepers and front-end loaders.
Your tasks will include replacing parts such as shock absorbers, transmissions, and brakes, balancing wheels, checking alignment, and conducting minor body repairs.
Additionally, you will overhaul and test alternators and electrical components, ensuring everything is in working order.
You will also implement a preventative maintenance program for vehicles and equipment, which involves performing diagnostics, tune-ups, and tire changes.
Your role will require you to repair and adjust systems related to cooling, suspension, electrical, heating, and air conditioning, as well as maintaining fuel, brake, steering, and transmission systems.
Furthermore, you will be tasked with repairing or rebuilding construction and shop equipment.
As part of your duties, you will conduct official state inspections for safety and emissions on assigned vehicles, making necessary repairs to meet compliance standards.
This includes road testing vehicles, completing inspection stickers, and maintaining accurate State Inspection Records.
