This job involves using X-ray and other imaging machines to create pictures of patients' insides for diagnosis, helping doctors treat people in hospitals and clinics.
You'll work with all kinds of patients, from emergencies to routine check-ups, and ensure everything is safe and accurate.

Performs general diagnostic imaging procedures using fixed or portable, general, digital, fluoroscopic or other diagnostic equipment; lifts and carries magazines to and from imaging equipment; identifies patients with two identifiers; positions patients and selects technical factors based on knowledge of radiologic science, specific equipment and patient assessment; processes diagnostic imagesApplies principles of radiation safety in compliance with federal, state and departmental standards; uses appropriate filters, cones, protective clothing and devices to obtain high-quality images with radiation exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable to patients, others and self; wears and exchanges radiation monitoring devicesAssesses general patient condition, and takes action consistent with standards; monitors medical equipment and promptly adjusts or reports problems; observes and documents patient physical and procedural restraintsDocuments procedures and events in the patient's medical record and departmental logs in accordance with regulatory, hospital and departmental standards, using electronic and hand-written methods; identifies images and documents with patient, technologist, date/time and laterality informationTransports patients to and from the exam table with assistance as necessarySchedules procedures and patients, transfers paper orders into an electronic order entry system; records information; produces, processes and collates images and paperwork, and submits them for interpretation; may be assigned to coordinate patient flowMay perform venipuncture and CPR; assists physicians in preparing and/or administrating contrast media, setting up sterile and non-sterile trays, and providing instruments, medical devices and supplies as requestedAssists in training student technologists (interns) in the science and practice of diagnostic imagingParticipates in departmental Quality Improvement efforts including conducting various quality control and assurance proceduresCleans instruments, imaging equipment, supplies and procedure rooms; reports failures and problems with equipmentMaintains patient medical records and date integrity using Electronic Medical Record Systems Assists physicians in resolving imaging questions or issuesAdheres to all applicable Federal, State and local regulations including the Joint Commission (TJC) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)Performs other related duties as required Qualifications Certificate Required: - Possession and maintenance of a valid certificate as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) issued by the California Department of Public HealthAND - Current certification and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)AND - Possession of a valid Fluoroscopy Permit issued by the California Department of Public HealthAND - Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by the American Red CrossExperience: One (1) year of full-time, or its equivalent, experience performing diagnostic imaging procedures with at least six (6) months in an acute care hospital.
Other Requirements: A background investigation/fingerprint and/or physical exam may be required prior to the start of employment. A COMPLETED SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE AND CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.

Training and Experience Evaluation: Consists of an evaluation of each candidate's relevant education, training and/or experience as presented on the application and supplemental questionnaire.
(Weighted 100%)4. Candidates must receive a score of at least 70, which may be an adjusted score in order to be ranked on the eligible list.
The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
As part of the application process, an applicant may be required to complete a Conviction History form. The Conviction History form should only be submitted when requested.
CONVICTION HISTORYAfter you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer.
If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances.
Having a conviction history does not automatically preclude you from a job with Contra Costa County.
