Full Job Description

The Deputy Director is a member of the senior leadership team for the Michigan Civil Service Commission (MCSC).

The MCSC regulates conditions of employment in the state’s civil service and provides Human Resources (HR) staff to most state agencies.

This position will help implement rule and policy changes from the commission and regulation and policy changes from the state personnel director to meet the MCSC’s mission, vision, and goals.

As a deputy, this position focuses on central-office regulatory offices and oversees around 170 employees providing benefits, call-center, IT, and training services to state employees and regulation of the state’s classification and compensation plans. Key responsibilities include managing staff and overseeing operations to optimize resources and drive efficiency, identifying improvements to current processes, and educating and collaborating with MCSC customers to ensure an equitable, responsive employment system.
