Requirements

In this position, you will be responsible for crafting and refining various communication materials, including press releases, media advisories, talking points, letters, op-eds, and newsletter articles, all focused on public announcements and a range of topics related to DCED. You will also assist in coordinating press events by managing logistics, engaging with businesses and stakeholders, pitching stories to the media, distributing press materials, and organizing interviews with DCED officials, including the Secretary and other executives. Additionally, you will collect essential background information for media inquiries as directed by the Communications Director or Press Secretary and represent the Office of Communications in both internal and external meetings with businesses, stakeholders, and partners. It is crucial to develop and maintain a deep understanding of your assigned subject areas while fostering relationships with both internal DCED program staff and external stakeholders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in preparing public relations promotion through all media; and a bachelor’s degree with major course work in journalism, communications, English, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
