Full Job Description

The incumbent of this position serves as the Deputy Division Chief in the National Tracing Center (NTC) in Martinsburg, WV with responsibility for managing the Bureau's mission critical Firearms Tracing Programs and services in support of Federal, State, local, tribal, and international law enforcement agencies.

The NTC Division is comprised of three branches, the Firearms Tracing Branch, the Law Enforcement Support Branch, and the Tracing Operations and Records Management Branch.

To qualify for the Deputy Chief position at the GS-15 grade level, you must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Minimum Qualifications To qualify for this position at the GS-15 grade level, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.

Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.

Specialized experience must include all of: Providing leadership and supervision to a team; AND Providing advice and guidance, serving as liaison, presenting briefings, and representing an organization in a variety of internal and external forums; AND Negotiating and collaborating with others (i.e.

The major duties of the Deputy Chief position include, but are not limited to, the following: Functions as the Deputy Chief, National Tracing Center (NTC), with responsibility for planning and managing a full range of operations and programs to include short and long-term planning; workload and resource projections; review and justification of budget allocations and forecasts; and continually assessing division goals/performance.

Serves as an advisor to the Assistant Director, Deputy Assistant Director and the Chief, National Tracing Center Division on major issues pertaining to the Firearms Tracing Program.

Provides advice to and coordinates with Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement agencies regarding the use and benefits of NTC programs.
