Full Job Description

The Record Office is a complex work area with a full range of technical departmental assignments. This position is responsible for the interpretation of court documents, release of all prisoners and the processing of all pending felony and outstanding warrants. The responsibilities require knowledge and utilization of technical methods and techniques to carry out the day-to-day duties. The Record Office ensures the release processing is accurate by meticulously reviewing the information received from the Parole Board and Central Time Computation Unit. This position researches and analyzes data from MDOC and outside agency databases and reports on a daily basis to assist other facility staff. It is necessary to review and interpret data from the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN), Offender Management Network Information system (OMNI), Corrections Management Information System (CMIS), and Michigan Criminal Justice Information Network (MICJIN) to complete all required tasks. This position is responsible for data entry, file maintenance and works independently ensuring accuracy with established methods, procedures, policies and laws. Perform numerous duties as assigned by the Supervisor as well as assist the Transfer Coordinator.

One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.

One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience
equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

Departmental Technician (Trainee) 7
Two years of experience in a 7 level or higher non-administrative support ECP Group One classification.
OR
One year of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

Departmental Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Departmental Technician E9
Possession of a bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017.

Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) with either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification.

All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their Non-Custody New Employee Training. PLEASE NOTE: Overnight travel may be required for NCNET.
