Job Description

Summary

This role involves leading a team that provides outreach and support services to prevent and manage sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV in the Detroit area, including supervising staff, tracking cases, and building partnerships with community groups.

A good fit would be someone with experience in public health management who is organized, good at team leadership, and passionate about improving community health through collaboration.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any major
  • Four years of professional experience, including two years at an experienced (P11) level or one year at an advanced (12) level
  • Direct supervision of professional staff such as Community Outreach Specialists and Disease Intervention Specialists
  • Management of STI and HIV Partner Services in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines
  • Monitoring case investigations, epidemiologic functions, and staff performance through audits, reviews, and appraisals
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships with internal and external organizations
  • Administrative oversight of the Detroit Client, Partner, and Community Outreach Unit

The employee functions as a first-line professional manager of professional positions in a standard work area.

This position is responsible for translating program goals into activities resulting in reduced disease morbidity and complications from STIs and HIV in the City of Detroit, Highland Park, Harper Woods and the Grosse Pointes.

Manage the Detroit Client, Partner and Community Outreach Unit, which includes both STI and HIV Partner Services, in accordance with Federal, State, and City guidelines.

Responsible for all administrative and management within the Detroit jurisdiction including direct supervision of the Community Outreach Specialist and Disease Intervention Specialists.

Monitoring of case investigation outcomes and epidemiologic functions. Oversee professional staff evaluations via regular audits/reviews and annual appraisals.

Develop, strengthen and maintain partnerships and collaborations with internal and external partners.

    Requirements

    Education
    Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

    Experience
    Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

    Additional Information

    Position Location/Remote Office: The physical location of this position is 3044 West Grand Blvd., Suite 4-650, Detroit, MI 48202 (Cadillac Place).

    Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.

    Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

    Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
